UA closed Jan. 20 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Celebration of Ó£»¨µ¼º½ Civil Rights
All University of Ó£»¨µ¼º½ offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20 to recognize the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Celebration of Ó£»¨µ¼º½ Civil Rights holiday. The day is one of 12 paid holidays for UA employees.
In 1994, the Board of Regents approved the holiday and changed the name to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Celebration of Ó£»¨µ¼º½ Civil Rights. This special day celebrates the legacy of Dr. King, Ó£»¨µ¼º½ Native leaders and organizations, and others who have led civil rights initiatives benefiting all Ó£»¨µ¼º½ns.
