Upcoming Board of Regents meetings

The University of Ó£»¨µ¼º½ (UA) Board of Regents will meet next week as the university system concludes the 2025 academic year. The May 21–22 meetings in Fairbanks follows graduation and commencement ceremonies across the state and will focus on student success, institutional resilience, and celebrating excellence across the system.


Committee meetings (Wednesday, May 21)

All meetings will be held in Room 109 of the Butrovich Building on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus:

  • Audit and Finance Committee: 8–10 a.m.
    • The committee will hear updates on UA’s three-year financial outlook, ongoing audit projects, and begin discussions on the FY27 budget proposal.
  • Academic and Student Affairs Committee: 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
    • Presentations will include an overview of the federal accreditation environment from Dr. Jeff Fox, interim president of NWCCU; a recruitment, retention, and graduation framework update from UA Vice President and Chief Academic Officer Brian Smentkowski; and an update from Ó£»¨µ¼º½ Commission on Postsecondary Education Executive Director Kerry Thomas on outcomes and partnerships supporting the Ó£»¨µ¼º½ Performance Scholarship.
  • Facilities and Land Management Committee: 1–3 p.m.
    • Members will receive an update on deferred maintenance planning, capital project briefings, and will consider a memorandum of understanding between UAA and the Seawolf Hockey Alliance to jointly pursue a new community ice complex.
  • Full Board of Regents Meeting: 3:30–5:30 p.m.
    • UAF student experience; recognition of 2025 Staff Make Students Count awardees; Governance, President’s and Chancellors’ reports; and Executive Session.

Full board meeting continues (Thursday, May 22)

The Board will reconvene Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Agenda includes:

  • Updates on institutional progress guided by the Board’s recruitment, retention, and graduation priorities
  • Adoption of the FY26 operating and capital budgets (pending final action by the Legislature and approval by the governor)
  • A federal landscape overview presented by APLU Vice President for Research, Policy, and Advocacy Debbie Altenburg
  • Resolutions thanking outgoing employees and board members representing more than 60 years of combined service
